RGB to DMC color finder

RGB to DMC color finder

My girlfriend make cross-stitch. She started to design her own pattern. The problem is that it's not always easy to find the right color for the thread from the hundreds of available colors. She then asked me to make a script that will find the closet DMC color from RGB values. And that's what I did. It took me an evening to make it work! It's a very simple PHP script with some JavaScript for the form.

You can try it on her web site : Elaida.org

Also look at her awesome retro-gaming key rings that she made with the help of this script.  ;-)

Hot Chip are hot!

Do you know Hot Chip ? I discovered this band a year ago. My counsin Pascal sent me a video of one of their songs on Facebook. I receive so much crap on Facebook that often I won't even bother to look at them. This time I take a chance and check to see what it is. It was the video of Ready For The Floor from Hot Chip...

At first I'm intrigued by the video which is very original for our time. Although the song is a bit bizarre I continue to listen. But the more the video plays, the more I realize that the song is really good! At this time I started to watch all the Hot Chip videos on their YouTube channel. I felt like the summer of 1985 when I heard Some Great Reward of Depeche Mode for the first time. Anyway, maybe you will find that I'm exaggerating but it's been years since a band surprised me by the originality of their songs and videos. With the abundance of bands that we have today, it's rare to find one that is truly original. Every Hot Chip song is full of surprises. They may look like a bunch of nerds, but they are really hot!

Make your own mind and listen to their songs. Here are my two favorites songs from their album Made In The Dark and The Warning.
