Tormented Radio

I recently discovered an excellent web radio : Tormented Radio. If you like EBM, electronic, industrial music, you will love it. DJ Dead plays in rotation a carefully selected collection of songs. Every song is good! There's also mixes available in podcast on his site. If the boring music playing on the radio makes you sick, try this one. You won't regret it. Thanks to Crimson Ivy who made me discover this radio on Twitter! Cool

Marilyn Manson - The High End Of Low

Marilyn Manson - The High End Of Low

I just bought the new Marilyn Manson's CD, The High End Of Low. I listened to it only two times, so I don't know all the songs well yet, but I can tell that "Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon" is excellent! The rest of the album is also very good, that's good old Manson.

I wanted to post the video of Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon from Manson's official YouTube channel, but it's impossible. It says "Embedding disabled by request". WTF? They don't want us to post the video on other sites? Music companies are starting to really piss me off!

So here is the video, uploaded by someone else. I don't know for how long it will be available!

Video Game Orchestra Concert - Final Fantasy

Friday june 12th I attented the concert "Final Fantasy" by L'Orchestre de Jeux Vidéo at the Pollack Hall in McGill University and it was very good ! OJV is an orchestra from Montréal who plays video game music. The concert was dedicated to the game Final Fantasy. I never played that game because I'm not a fan of RPG but I know the series. My girlfriend is a big fan of that game and I know the music, which is excellent !

The concert was very good. Not only the musicians' performance was excellent but the arrangements from Jocelyn Leblanc, the conductor, have exceeded my expectations. At the end of the concert they added two electric guitar and a drum to the wind orchestra ! We even got two encore. The atmosphere was really relaxed. It was really not a snob concert from a pretentious symphony orchestra. Between each piece, the intervention of the presenter was always relevant. He provided interesting information, in a very amusing way, about the piece performed, its context in the game and the Final Fantasy series in the history of video games.

Unfortunately, the experience was ruined by a geek a little too enthusiastic who was humming every songs and never stopped talking. But there's nothing I can do. I learned that in every event there's somebody who's not able to respect the others. It happened again today, I saw the piece "Oscar" at Théâtre du Vieux-Terrebonne and the old guy behind me was burping all the time !

Back to the OJV, if you're a fan of original classical music, video game music or both, check out the OJV concert calendar. The experience is worth the trip and the price. I paid only 15$ for the concert and 10$ for the CD. It is really cheap.

The orchestra is only one year old, but I predict they will have a long career. Long live the OJV!

The return of Crimson Ivy

Crimson Ivy is a band from the 80' and the 90's. Their last album Bloodlife was released in 1993, but they are back this year with a new album Youarewho to be released soon. I had the chance to listen to one of their new song and it's very good. While you wait for the new album to be released, you can download the songs of their last album Bloodlife from 1993 on their web site!
